Donor Impact on Pediatric Care

Shining a Light on Newborn Health

Funding for new "billie lights" (fiberoptic phototherapy blankets) to treat newborns experiencing jaundice
These blankets wrap directly around the baby, allowing parents to comfortably hold, cuddle, and nurse their newborn during active treatment, keeping families closely bonded during their very first days of life.

Did you know?

Thanks to donor generosity, the HSN Foundation helps support milestone moments for our bravest patients
Funding the POGO end-of-treatment celebration bell at the Shirley and Jim Fielding Northeast Cancer Centre. For children undergoing cancer treatment close to home in Sudbury, ringing this bell marks the powerful moment they finish their cancer treatment, bringing a long-awaited breath of relief and joy to northern families.

Northern Ontario’s First Pediatric Step-Up Unit (PSUU)

The PSUU provides advanced pediatric critical care, serving as a crucial bridge between standard care and the ICU.
It delivers specialized 1:1 or 1:2 nursing care alongside advanced cardiac and respiratory monitoring right here at home. Your e-billing sign-up helps the HSN Foundation continue to expand and support vital pediatric resources like these.

World-Class Care, Close to Home:

HSN’s Pediatric Step-Up Unit teamed up with specialists at SickKids
To design its medical routines, staff training, and care standards after one of Canada’s top children’s hospitals.

"Philanthropy has turned an urgent need into a reality, and it's making a life-changing difference for our patients every day."

"The care and support we received were truly life-changing... we will always be grateful."

Because Home is Where the Heart Heals.
When 4-year-old Audrey faced sudden seizures, her family didn’t have to leave the North. For Audrey’s parents, the greatest gift was knowing their daughter was in expert hands without having to leave their support system behind.
Born prematurely, Leo spent his first weeks in the NICU.
Donor support ensured his family could stay by his side every step of the way.
Lennox's Story
Donor support helps ensure children like Lennox have access to the specialized equipment, expert care and advanced procedures they need right here at HSN when every moment matters. Lennox received the diagnosis and treatment he urgently needed while staying surrounded by his family throughout his recovery.

"The doctors and nurses [at HSN] didn’t just care for Lennox, they cared for all of us. They kept our family together when we needed it most.”
